FROM THE DORM ROOM — Some of the events that caught our eye happened between Augusta, Georgia, and Seattle, Washington.

In the south, history was made at the Masters — and we’re not talking about Danny Willett’s win, either.

In the Pacific Northwest, a Pac 12 team was crowned champions at a now-annual eSports event on ESPN2.

But first, let’s stay close to home as we recap our favorite moments from the weekend in sports.

Military family gifted emotional reunion by Jazz

The Utah Jazz hosted a free-throw shooting contest with a local family during a timeout Friday in the team's 102-99 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

A common NBA trope — until the end of the event.

Technical Sgt. Josh Linder completed a seven-month tour with the Air Force in Afghanistan and made his return at Vivint Arena to the delight of his three children.

The children didn’t hit every shot. But they won that contest.

Watch the video below — and try not to get emotional. We dare you.

“I wanted to surprise them,” Sgt. Linder told the Root Sports broadcast. “It was tough, but I just kind of had to.

“I’d rank this at the top (moment of the past few months). But it’s been really tough.”

His wife, Sarah, hid Dad at a various relative’s house for the day leading up to the reunion and shuttled her children to friends’ houses in order to keep up the surprise.

“It’s been a real struggle trying to keep all the schedules together,” Sarah Linder said. “We did it. The surprise was worth it.”

Added Sgt. Linder: “I just appreciate the Jazz doing this for us. It was really nice.”

Triple Aces

The back-nine wasn’t kind to Masters runner-up Jordan Spieth, who surrendered a five-stroke lead on the back nine of the final round in a loss to Willett.

But one of those holes was great to the rest of the field.

Louis Oosthuizen, Shane Lowry and Davis Love III each recorded an ace on No. 16 at Augusta National, the most-ever in one round on that hole in Masters history.

Lowry started the trend early in the day by knocking in an ace on the hole dubbed “Redbud.”

Love joined him about an hour later, marking the fourth time in Masters history two players had a hole-in-one on the same hole in the same round.

Oosthuizen’s historic cleanup was even better.

Pac 12 celebrates devilish win

In case your Twitter timeline or ESPN2 didn’t tell you, Arizona State took down Texas-Arlington in the final of Blizzard Entertainment’s Heroes of the Dorm eSports competition Sunday night.

The Pac 12 has spent the past year boosting camaraderie with the hashtag #BackThePac — and the effect was in full force for a non-NCAA approved eSport event, too.

After Arizona State — nicknamed “The Real Dream Team” — swept Arlington en route to an undefeated tournament, the folks behind the Pac 12 Twitter account added the following.

From water polo to eSports, the Pac 12 is the #ConferenceOfChampions.
