HIGHLAND — Lone Peak senior Frank Jackson was named the Gatorade Utah boys basketball player of the year, the organization announced Thursday.

Jackson became the third Lone Peak player to win the award in the past four years, joining former Knights T.J. Haws (2014) and Nick Emery (2013 and 2011). Bountiful's Zac Seljaas took home the honor in 2015.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Duke signee led the Knights to a 21-5 record and the quarterfinals of the Class 5A state tournament. Jackson averaged 28.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game and earned first-team all-state honors by the Deseret News two years in a row.

In April, Jackson will represent Utah at the McDonald's All-American Game, played April 3 at the United Center in Chicago. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the five-star recruit also maintains a 3.46 GPA and volunteers locally at homeless shelters and youth basketball clinics.

"Jackson is as talented a player as I've seen in 12-plus years coaching high school basketball in Utah," Riverton coach Skyler Wilson told USA Today. "He's on another level with his athleticism, shooting and finishing at the basket."
