This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Today, under capable leadership, Intermountain Healthcare continues with the same founding principles of improving clinical outcomes and providing excellent and affordable patient care. Dr. Charles Sorenson is motivated by a strong sense of responsibility in doing what's right for people along with the board members, with Scott Anderson as Chairman of the Board for Intermountain Healthcare. Their mission is to help people live the healthiest lives possible. The impact of this particular not-for-profit healthcare organization is immeasurable, and this year they're celebrating their 40th anniversary.

An example of the commitment of Intermountain Healthcare is, with computers, they've made it possible to have tele health for rural areas and provide services with doctors who are willing to get up at all hours and, at times, answer life-saving questions for rural healthcare professionals. Intermountain Healthcare believes patients should be involved with their health, so they developed their mobile app Health Hub for patients to interact with healthcare providers. With 22 hospitals and approximately 185 clinics, the talent of Intermountain Healthcare is reaching Utah, Idaho and surrounding states.

When you consider the leadership of Intermountain Healthcare it's not surprising to hear about accolades recognizing Utah's healthcare innovation. Dr. Sorensen was one of the nation's highest scoring CEOs on leadership character, according to Harvard Business Review and was named one of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives by Modern Healthcare, ranking 9th on the list.

Dr. Charles Sorenson, President and CEO of Intermountain Healthcare says perfecting clinical care is at the core of their mission because, "This can be the most vulnerable time in a person's life." That's why Utah is known to have some of the best and most affordable healthcare in the United States. In 2015, Forbes Magazine named Intermountain Healthcare as one of America's Best Employers among large U.S. companies, government agencies and not-for-profits.

Intermountain Healthcare remains an important community partner in providing services like clinics for low-income and uninsured populations, financial assistance for those who can't pay and health and medical education programs.
