This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

With summer in full swing many of us are planning a great summer vacation. Utah has many exciting destinations, especially with five national parks in the state. If your summer plans include a trip to the Uintah Basin, be sure to stop and visit Rocky's Place in Roosevelt.

After 14 years of being in business and now with up to 25 employees on board, Rocky's Place has become one of the cultural landmarks for the area, a convenient place for people to get together, relax and enjoy some of the best shakes in town in the charm of an old-fashioned diner. Restaurants in Utah are an important economic driver expected to provide 8 percent of total state employment. And every $1 spent in Utah's restaurants generates an additional $1.15 for the state economy.

Owners Lee and Shelly Rockwood were both born and raised in Roosevelt, so they understand the area and the people they're serving. Rocky's Place is all about great American drive-in food, like burgers, fries, tacos, chicken and killer French fries, onion rings and curly fries. There are even English chips. What they're most famous for at Rocky's is over 50 flavors of shakes with Oreo and cookie dough as the most popular flavors. In the summertime guests love the fresh peach, raspberry and strawberry flavors. These are summer shakes available seasonally so now is the time to check them out.

This is now a family operation with Lee managing the restaurant day-to-day while Shelly oversees operations. Two of their sons have also come on board to help manage Rocky's Place where some of their staff members have been on board for a while. In addition, they're also hiring high school kids where Rocky's is their first job. So, this becomes a launching place for their developing work experience plus, they play an important role in the overall restaurant success.

Lee says they deliver a consistent, delicious product, and the success of this strategy for Rocky's Place shows in the dedicated customer base they've developed.
