SANDY — Bountiful defeated Orem 2-0 to win the 4A state soccer championship.

The game was all knotted up at halftime but in the second half Alex Simpson and Cesar Duenas put the ball in the back of the net for the Braves to secure the title.

Simpson scored off a wonderful set piece to give the Braves their first score. The second score came off a penalty kick when the Orem goalkeeper took out a bountiful player in the goalie box. Duenas calmly scored on the penalty kick.

Joshua Ludlow recorded the clean sheet for Bountiful in goal.
