SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Jazz general manager Justin Zanik interviewed to be the Chicago Bulls' executive vice president of basketball operations on Monday, KSL.com confirmed.

NBC Sports Chicago was the first to report the news.

Zanik, who's in his second stint with the Jazz, was promoted to Utah's general manager last May. Zanik was originally hired by the Jazz in 2013 and spent three seasons with the club as an assistant general manager before leaving for the Milwaukee Bucks organization in June of 2016. He returned to the Jazz the next season.

If Zanik does leave for Chicago, where he attended school at Northwestern University and began his work as an agent, it would be considered a step up. While Zanik was promoted to general manager in Utah, it was mostly a title change with Dennis Lindsey still leading the front office's decision-making.

In his lone season as Jazz general manager, Zanik played a part in swinging trades to land Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson. He also helped sign free agents Bojan Bogdanovic and Emmanuel Mudiay.
