SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — The trial of a Connecticut man police say was driving an SUV that crashed in Massachusetts, killing four passengers, has been delayed because he has a new lawyer.
The Republican newspaper reports that 19-year-old Aaron Thorne was granted a new lawyer last week, pushing back the start of his trial. Thorne said his previous attorney didn't have a "positive attitude."
The New Haven, Connecticut, man faces four counts of manslaughter and other charges stemming from the January 2017 crash in Springfield that claimed the lives of a 20-year-old man and three high school students.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Police say Thorne was driving more than 70 mph (112 kph) when he struck a tree. The SUV had been reported stolen.
The trial was scheduled to start in June. A new date hasn't been set.
