CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Department of Education has laid out several goals it plans to achieve within the next 15 years, including an 89 percent high school graduation rate.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2oI1qAB) the state's draft plan is intended to comply with the Every Student Succeeds Act, which was passed by Congress in 2015 and replaces No Child Left Behind.
The goal to achieve an 89 percent graduation rate in all Wyoming schools is far above last year's statewide average of less than 80 percent.
The department's plan also sets new achievement goals for student reading and math proficiency and performance of student subgroups, including those who receive free and reduced lunches.
The department's 15-year plan is now open to public comment for 45 days.
