SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Environmental officials say reservoirs in northern Utah are drying up and that the region could face a lackluster year in terms of rainfall.
Weber Basin Water Conservancy District general manager Tage Flint tells the Deseret News (http://bit.ly/2ek4Xl3 ) that Utah needs to get out of its drought cycle. He says the one-year storage reservoir has dropped to only 19 percent of its capacity and Pineview is barely half full.
Flint says he'd like to see at least a normal amount of snowpack this year.
Hydrologist Brian McInerney of the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City says it was the warmest June recorded at the Salt Lake City International Airport.
