MIAMI (AP) — Fire Rescue officials say eight people were injured when a car plowed into a Miami church while a service was in progress.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported seven people from Mount Zion AME Church to the hospital Sunday. The car crashed into the building as the congregants were celebrating the church's 75th anniversary. The car was trying to avoid a crash on the road.

The Miami Herald (http://tinyurl.com/jn77o65 ) reports that one person was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
