MIAMI (AP) — Authorities say a person is dead following a confrontation with a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.
The Miami Herald (http://goo.gl/jQ6f3T) reports that a shooting occurred Wednesday morning.
A witness told Miami Gardens police that a trooper fired at a car and hit someone inside just off the Palmetto Expressway.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will lead an investigation into the shooting. The trooper was not shot or seriously injured.
Authorities weren't immediately naming the trooper, the person who was shot or their races.
