WASHINGTON (AP) — Police are investigating the death of an infant boy in a Washington residence where authorities say there were other children but no adult supervision.
Authorities say they responded to the house Wednesday morning and found the boy unresponsive. Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Dustin Sternbeck says the boy was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Sternbeck says the cause of death would have to be determined by a medical examiner. Authorities have not released the identity of the infant.
Officials say six siblings under age 10 were in the house at the time. Police say one child alerted them about the unresponsive infant, and one parent was located and was being questioned.
Child and Family Services Agency spokeswoman Mindy Good says her office is investigating.
