WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Redskins have acquired two-time Pro Bowl safety Dashon Goldson from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for an undisclosed 2016 draft pick.

The deal was announced Friday by the Buccaneers.

Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan was on the San Francisco staff when Goldson was drafted by the 49ers in the fourth round in 2007. Washington is replacing 2014 starting safeties Ryan Clark (retirement) and Brandon Meriweather (unrestricted free agent).

Goldson went to the Pro Bowl following his 2011 and 2012 seasons with the 49ers.

The 30-year-old safety signed with the Buccaneers in 2013 and started 27 games over the past two seasons. He had 151 tackles and an interception and nine pass defenses.
