ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have promoted linebackers Tyrell Adams and James Cowser from the practice squad to the active roster.
The team cut tackle Matt McCants and tight end Ryan O'Malley on Saturday to make room on the 53-man roster. Oakland hosts Carolina on Sunday.
The Raiders needed help at linebacker with rookie Shilique Calhoun sidelined by a knee injury.
Adams joined the Raiders' practice squad on Oct. 5 following stints with Seattle and Kansas City.
Cowser was originally signed by the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in May 2016 and has been on the practice squad since October.
