West Monroe High School to get new scoreboard

WEST MONROE, La. (AP) — West Monroe High School will soon have a $742,000 scoreboard for Don Shows Field at Rebel Stadium.

The Ouachita Parish School Board approved an agreement Monday between West Monroe High School and the school district to finance its purchase.

The News-Star reports (http://tnsne.ws/1oFSEz2 ) the cost of the scoreboard initially will be paid by the school district, but more than two-thirds will be reimbursed through sponsorships on the sign.

The new scoreboard will have a built-in sound system, can be used to show movies, has replay capability and comes with a programmable animation package. The dimensions of the board are 48.6 feet horizontally by 27 feet vertically.

The scoreboard will be placed in the west end zone of the football field, facing West Monroe High School.
