UTSA beats Charlotte in overtime 30-27

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Nate Gaines' interception in overtime set up Daniel Portillo's 22-yard field goal in UTSA's 30-27 victory over Charlotte on Saturday.

The 49ers were at the UTSA 3 when Matt Johnson threw into the end zone where Gaines made his third pick this season. The Roadrunners (2-8, 2-4 Conference USA) then ran the ball six straight times before Portillo's kick.

Charlotte's Blake Brewer kicked a 37-yard game-tying field goal with 1:11 left in regulation after a 16-play drive that took 6:45. The Roadrunners missed a 52-yard field goal on the final play of regulation.

Jarveon Williams rushed for career-high 181 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Dalton Sturm threw for 133 yards and two scores but had three interceptions.

Two 49ers quarterbacks combined to throw for three touchdowns and two interceptions. Richard Murphy caught two TDs.

UTSA snapped a four-game losing streak. Charlotte (2-8, 0-7) has lost eight straight.
