AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Tory Verdi is leaving Eastern Michigan to become the women's basketball coach at Massachusetts.

Verdi was 72-62 with three consecutive postseason berths since taking over at EMU in 2012. He spent the previous two seasons as an assistant with Kansas and was an assistant with Nebraska the five seasons before that.

He also spent three seasons on the staff of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun.

UMass fired coach Sharon Dawley in March after the Minutewomen went 46-133 in her six years in Amherst.
