SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The second round of the NBA playoffs tips off tonight in the Alamo City when the San Antonio Spurs host the Oklahoma City Thunder. Both teams breezed into this round. The Spurs swept Memphis while the Thunder needed five games to eliminate Dallas.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The New York Islanders try for a two-game sweep on the road when they play the Tampa Bay Lightning in a second-round NHL playoff series today. The Islanders, who are in the second round for the first time since 1993, rolled to a 5-3 victory in Game 1.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins are looking for more production from their captain Sidney Crosby in tonight's Game 2 in the nation's capital. Crosby was ineffective offensively and on the ice for three Washington Capitals goals Thursday night in the Penguins' 4-3 overtime loss in Game 1.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs, sporting the best record in baseball at 17-5, resume their weekend series at Wrigley Field against the lowly Atlanta Braves, who are 5-18 after yesterday's 6-1 loss to the Cubbies. The Cubs are on their best 22-game start since the 1907 team was 18-4.

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — NASCAR returns to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend with qualifying for tomorrow's race taking place today. Carl Edwards enters the weekend as the hottest driver going, with wins in the last two Sprint Cup races.
