KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals reinstated outfielder Jarrod Dyson from the disabled list and recalled right-hander Miguel Almonte from Triple-A Omaha before Tuesday night's series opener against the Detroit Tigers.

To clear space on the roster, the Royals optioned outfielder Reymond Fuentes to Omaha and placed right-hander Dillon Gee on the paternity list. Gee's wife gave birth to a daughter, Charlotte, on Monday.

Expected to platoon with Paulo Orlando in right field, Dyson strained his oblique in the opening game of spring training. The speedster hit .318 in seven rehab games for Omaha.

The hard-throwing Almonte, one of the Royals' prized prospects, made his big league debut last fall. He was 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA in two starts for Omaha this season.
