NEW YORK (AP) — Paulassilverlining beat even-money favorite Cavorting by 3 3/4 lengths Sunday in the $200,000 Distaff Handicap for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
It was a sharp rebound effort for Paulassilverlining after running second as the 2-5 favorite in the Correction Stakes here last month.
And it capped a big week for the red hot Jose Ortiz at the Big A. He had two victories on the card, giving the nation's leading rider 14 over the last five days.
Paulassilverlining sat second as Madam Aamoura set the pace before easily putting away that rival turning for home. The outcome was never in doubt from that point to the finish wire.
The 4-year-old trained by Michelle Nevin got her third stakes victory, improving to 5 for 12 overall.
Nevin also saddled fourth-place finisher By the Moon.
The time was 1:22.01 for the seven furlongs.
Paulassilverlining paid $6.40, $3 and $2.30 as the 2-1 second choice.
Cavorting returned $2.50 and $2.10, and Bar of Gold paid $2.70 to show.
