Northern Arizona holds off Abilene Christian 27-21

ABILENE, Texas (AP) — Kyren Poe passed for 293 yards and one touchdown and ran for another to lead Northern Arizona to a 27-21 win over Abilene Christian on Saturday night.

Poe hit Alex Holmes, who had nine catches for 119 yards, for a 24-yard score in the second quarter than then ran 3 yards to make it 17-7 just 17 seconds before the half. Corbin Jountti had a 1 yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter as the Lumberjacks (1-1) opened a 24-7 lead.

Parker McKenzie, who had a 1-yard run in the second quarter to give Abilene Christian (0-2) a 7-3 lead, found Cedrick Gilbert for a 39-yard score later in the third quarter to make it 24-17. After a NAU field goal, McKenzie hit Cade Stone for a 40-yard TD with 8:46 remaining.

De'Andre Brown ran for 109 yards for the Wildcats.
