PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom threw 71 pitches in a simulated game in Florida and is on schedule to start Sunday at Atlanta

DeGrom missed his one turn in the rotation because of a sore lat muscle on his right side and another start Tuesday night after he was placed on the family medical emergency list Saturday following the birth of son Jaxon. The infant returned home Monday following a health concern.

DeGrom would pitch against the Braves on Sunday, pushing the other starters back one day for an extra day of rest.

Logan Verrett made his second start in place of deGrom against the Phillies. He'd return to the bullpen when deGrom returns.
