CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Juan'ya Green scored 26 points, half of them from the free throw line, to help lift Hofstra to a 71-66 win over College of Charleston on Thursday night.
Ameen Tanksley contributed 17 points, including four 3-pointers, and Dion Nesmith added 11 points for Hofstra (12-4, 3-0 Colonial Athletic Association), which extended its win streak to five for the first time since 2010.
The Pride shot 43 percent from the floor but held a nearly 2-to-1 advantage in made free throws, 24-13. Both teams hit 9 of 22 from 3-point range and Charleston (5-11, 0-3) twice edged into the lead during the second half.
Hofstra retook the lead for good with a jumper from Green that made it 59-57 with 2:48 to go and held on the rest of the way.
Canyon Barry led the Cougars with 21 points and seven rebounds.
