UNDATED (AP) — The Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers won Game 2 of their respective Eastern Conference first-round series on Friday. The Lightning enjoy a two-games-to-none lead after Tyler Johnson scored twice in the third period and had two assists in a 5-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Reilly Smith scored the opening goal and set up Nick Bjugstad's (BYOOG'-stadz) game-winner 6:17 into the second period of the Panthers' 3-1 triumph over the New York Islanders, evening the series at a game apiece.

UNDATED (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks evened their Western Conference first-round series at a game apiece, while the Nashville Predators opened their series with a win at Anaheim. Andrew Shaw snapped a 1-1 tie with 4:19 remaining before Artemi Panarin (pah-NAH'-rihn) added the eventual game-winner in the Hawks' 3-2 win at St. Louis. Filip Forsberg scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period of the Predators' 3-2 win over the Ducks.

UNDATED (AP) — The Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins finally have victories following 0-9 starts. Adonis Garcia had three RBIs and the Braves scored four times in the eighth inning of a 6-3 win at Miami. Byung Ho Park doubled home the tiebreaking run in the bottom of the eighth to push Minnesota past the Angels 5-4.

UNDATED (AP) — The Washington Nationals are a major league-best 8-1 following their sixth consecutive win. Bryce Harper belted a two-run homer and Jayson Werth was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored as the Nats blasted the Phillies 9-1 in Philadelphia. The victory went to Joe Ross, who limited the Phils to three hits in 7 2/3 scoreless innings.

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) — Carl Edwards has captured the pole for Sunday's Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway, leading a Joe Gibbs Racing team that grabbed four of the top five spots. Edwards had a lap of 127.997 mph to nose out Matt Kenseth for the top position. Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin will start from the second row, just ahead of Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson.
