EASTON, Pa. (AP) — A former eastern Pennsylvania teacher's aide and assistant football coach who pleaded guilty to having sex with a 15-year-old girl has been sentenced to 15 months to five years in prison.

Thirty-year-old Adam Bednarik of Bethlehem pleaded guilty last year in Northampton County Court to statutory sexual assault and corrupting a minor. A judge sentenced him Friday and also added five years of probation that is to start at the end of his parole.

Police said Bednarik began flirting with the girl in 2013 and sent her inappropriate texts, including a nude photo of himself. Prosecutors say they had sex in August 2014.

Bednarik, who tearfully apologized in court Friday, was a star football player at Bethlehem Catholic High School and later played at West Virginia University.
