CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Landon Donovan and Marcelo Sarvas scored to give the Los Angeles Galaxy a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night.
Los Angeles (11-5-7) held Vancouver (7-5-12) scoreless in two of its three matchups this season.
Donovan started the scoring in the fourth minute. Robbie Keane's wide attempt fell to the far post and Donovan redirected it home. Los Angeles had conceded the first goal in its past four matches.
Keane's second assist came in the 32nd minute. He whiffed on a shot, but his plant foot pushed the ball forward and Marcelo Sarvas rolled it under Vancouver goalkeeper David Ousted. Keane is tied with New York's Thierry Henry for the MLS lead with 11 assists.
Vancouver's Johnny Leveron was shown a straight red card in the 90th minute for a rough tackle of Alan Gordon.
