ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Croatian police say they have detained around 100 basketball fans from neighboring Serbia, many of whom were carrying pyrotechnic devices.

Police said Serbian fans were detained Friday in the capital Zagreb hours ahead of the match between Red Star Belgrade and host team Cedevita.

Sports matches between Serbian and Croatian teams are usually high-risk events because of the tensions stemming from the 1992-95 war which erupted after the breakup of the former Yugoslav federation.
