ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres are embarking on yet another coaching search after firing Chadd Cassidy, the coach of their minor-league affiliate in Rochester.
The decision was announced by the Sabres on Friday, two weeks after the Rochester Americans missed the playoffs by finishing 14th out of 15 teams in the American Hockey League's Western Conference standings. The move comes three weeks after the Sabres fired their head coach Ted Nolan.
Sabres general manager Tim Murray reached the decision to fire Cassidy as part of organization's "move forward into a new chapter."
Cassidy had an 82-80-12-6 record over two-plus seasons in Rochester, including a 29-41-5-1 finish last season.
