TORONTO (AP) — After playing four consecutive extra-inning games, the Blue Jays recalled right-hander Chad Jenkins from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday and designated right-hander Sergio Santos for assignment.

Santos allowed two home runs in the 11th inning of Tuesday's 11-7 loss to Boston, one of them an upper deck shot by Mike Napoli. The blast was the 17th to reach the upper deck in the 25-year history of Rogers Centre, and the first in more than three years.

Manager John Gibbons eventually removed Santos from the game and replaced him with infielder Steve Tolleson, who got the final two outs of the 11th.

Santos is 0-3 with an 8.57 ERA in 26 games this season. He was also designated for assignment on July 21, but promoted again on Aug. 23 after a successful stint at Triple-A.

Jenkins is 1-1 with a 2.56 ERA in 21 games with Toronto this season.
