CHICAGO (AP) — The defending champion Chicago Blackhawks and defenseman Brent Seabrook have agreed to an eight-year contract extension through the 2023-24 season.

With the announcement Saturday, the Blackhawks locked up a key figure on three Stanley Cup winners since 2010.

The 30-year-old Seabrook holds franchise records among defensemen in regular-season overtime goals (six), postseason goals (19) and postseason overtime goals (three). Seabrook helped Canada win a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Last season, he made his first All-Star game appearance.

Seabrook has 318 points (71 goals, 247 assists) in 763 career regular-season games with Chicago dating to 2005-06.
