LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Substitute Raul Jimenez scored late for Benfica to complete a 2-1 comeback win at Academica and protect its lead of the Portuguese league on Saturday.

Sporting Lisbon remained in second place at two points behind after beating Maritimo 3-1 at home.

Academica's Pedro Nuno opened the scoring but Benfica striker Konstantinos Mitroglou leveled with a header before the interval.

Benfica still needed Jimenez to go on with 10 minutes left and grab the winner in the 85th to take the three points that kept it at the top.

Teofilo Gutierrez, William Carvalho, and Islam Slimani all scored for Sporting before Gevorg Ghazaryan got Maritimo's consolation goal.
