MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal has been ruled out of the German Cup semifinals and is in doubt for next week's Champions League match against Real Madrid.

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes says Vidal needs keyhole surgery on his right knee after twisting it awkwardly when he slipped on Sunday in training.

Vidal will miss Tuesday's game at Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup. Bayern will face Madrid eight days later in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals.

Heynckes says "Arturo will definitely be out for a short while."

Vidal made 22 Bundesliga appearances this season, chipping in six goals, while he also made eight Champions League and four German Cup appearances.
