VIERA, Fla. (AP) — Controversial Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez says he'll retire after the 2017 season. He revealed his intentions during an interview with ESPN. Rodriguez returned from a one-year drug suspension last season. His 687 homers are 75 shy of Barry Bonds career record.

NEW YORK (AP) — Once again the most valuable team in baseball is the New York Yankees. Forbes has released its annual estimates and pegs the Yankees worth at $3.4 billion. Following them are the Dodgers, Red Sox and Giants. Miami is last at $675 million.

UNDATED (AP) —Free agent punter Bryan Anger has signed with Tampa Bay. He spent his first four seasons in the NFL with Jacksonville. Anger was a third-round draft pick of the Jaguars in 2012 and has averaged 46.8 yards per punt during his career, the second-highest mark in league history.

UNDATED (AP) — At the end of the night the scene will be set for the NIT semifinals. The winners of the Florida against George Washington match-up and Georgia Tech at San Diego meeting will join Valparaiso (val-pur-AY'-zoh) and BYU in the New York based semifinals.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Providence sophomore Ben Bentil says that he will declare for the NBA draft but not hire an agent, leaving open the option to return to school. The 6-foot-9 Bentil had a breakout season, leading the Big East in scoring at 21.2 points per game and averaging 7.7 rebounds.
