BERLIN (AP) — A German prosecutor says preliminary autopsy results failed to clearly identify the cause of death of a young woman who died after reportedly defending two teenage girls from male harassment.
The death of Tugce Albayrak has triggered an outpouring of public sympathy in Germany.
Prosecutor Axel Kreutz said Tuesday the autopsy showed that Albayrak died from blunt force to the head, but it didn't conclusively answer whether this was caused by a strike to her head or a subsequent fall.
Albayrak had been in a coma sicne mid-November following the altercation at a restaurant in Offenbach. She died Friday, after her family gave doctors permission to switch off her life support.
