BERYL, Iron County — A set of human remains found in April was identified on Thursday by the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner.
Police said the remains belonged to Michael Greene, a 62-year-old man who was from the Greater Salt Lake area.
An unidentified set of human remains was discovered on April 12 in the area of 8600 W 4800 North in Beryl, Iron County, according to police. Police said they were unable to identify the remains due to exposure.
On June 9, the Iron County Sheriff's Office received an email from a family member of Greene who was concerned that they had not heard from Greene in several months.
Detectives working with the Iron County Sheriff's Office learned that Greene was living near where the remains were originally found and approached the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner with the information.
The Utah Office of the Medical Examiner later determined that the unidentified remains were Greene.
Police said the investigation into Greene's death was still ongoing.
