CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Officials are unveiling a memorial wall with the names of nearly 3,000 Nevada National Guard soldiers and airmen who have served in combat zones since Sept. 11, 2001.
Gov. Brian Sandoval planned to attend the ceremony Friday in Carson City and proclaim it Nevada National Guard Combat Veterans Remembrance Day.
The 2,700 names will be displayed on 43 plaques along an auditorium wall at the Office of the Adjutant General.
The wall will feature small stars next to the names of three Nevada Army National Guard soldiers who died while deployed in Afghanistan. They are John Flynn, Patrick Stewart and Anthony Cometa.
