CINCINNATI (AP) — The Deer Park City Council in suburban Cincinnati is expected to discuss the fate of a clinic for drug addicts that opened across the street from an elementary school.
The discussion follows a Saturday protest in front of the clinic, called Prime Health Group. It opened earlier this year.
The clinic treats people who are addicted to opiates, such as heroin.
WLWT-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1hQzaUt) that doctors at the clinic write prescriptions to patients but do not dispense them there.
Parents protesting the clinic say it's just too close to their children's schools and that people being treated for drug addiction are just too unpredictable.
They're circulating a petition to change zoning laws so that drug clinics aren't allowed within 1,000 feet of schools.
The clinic declined to comment.
