DETROIT (AP) — Two current and one former Detroit Public Schools principals have been arraigned on conspiracy to commit bribery charges.
A federal judge in Detroit entered "not-guilty" pleas Wednesday for James Hearn, Nina Graves-Hicks and Stanley Johnson and released them on bond.
Each declined to comment to reporters.
Hearn is principal at Marcus Garvey Academy and Johnson is principal at Hutchinson Elementary-Middle School. Graves-Hicks is the former principal at Davis Aerospace high school.
Other arraignments are expected over the next several days.
A dozen current and former principals, one school district administrator and a vendor were charged after fraudulent invoices were submitted for chairs, paper and other supplies in the financially-struggling district.
Five principals resigned before the investigation or due to the investigation. Current employees charged were placed on unpaid leave.
