CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire man who kidnapped and repeatedly raped a 14-year-old girl while holding her captive for nine months has won a temporary delay in the unsealing of documents related to his case.
Nathanial Kibby kidnapped the girl in 2013 after she accepted his offer of a ride home from school. The 35-year-old Kibby pleaded guilty in May to several charges and was sentenced to 45 to 90 years in prison.
The girl was in court to hear his admission and thanked him for eventually letting her go.
The trial court wants to make public letters written to the court by Kibby while his case was pending and a number of motions, some pertaining to his counsel. Kibby's counsel has objected to the unsealing of the documents.
The state Supreme Court has granted a stay in the documents' unsealing.
