HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The commissioner of Connecticut's Department of Public Health is participating in a White House summit on how to fight the Zika virus.

Raul Pino was among the state and local officials on hand Friday at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They were urged to act immediately to prevent and control the mosquito-borne viral infection.

Connecticut officials were ordered by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in January to start testing for Zika. The state has confirmed one case of the virus so far.

As of Wednesday, the Department of Public Health had received results for 119 patients, mostly pregnant women, who had traveled to affected areas. Most of the patients were getting tested as a precaution. Fewer than 20 were tested because they showed possible symptoms of Zika.
