POMONA, Calif. (AP) — A complaint by 11 current and former students accuses Pomona College of failing to adequately respond to claims of campus sexual violence.
The Los Angeles Times reported Friday (http://lat.ms/1FXV9b5) that the complaint was filed with the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights by Yenli Wong, a recent Pomona graduate, and 10 other students.
Wong has written about her experience being sexually assaulted. She describes a campus investigative process that re-traumatized her and resulted in sanctions against the assailant she considered minimal. The sanctions have not been disclosed.
Miriam Feldblum, Pomona vice president for student affairs, said the college would fully cooperate with federal education authorities.
The Times says Pomona joins more than 140 other campuses under investigation for their handling of sexual assault cases, including UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Stanford University.
