BURLEY, Idaho (AP) — Burley Junior High School will be closed for the rest of the week while maintenance crews repair a faulty heating system.

Cassia County School District spokeswoman Debbie Critchfield says crews worked over the summer to prepare the system for the winter cold, but the system was overwhelmed on Wednesday morning.

Maintenance workers determined they couldn't fix the system quickly enough for classes to resume on Wednesday. The district needs to order parts and make further repairs.

The buses began running at around 10 a.m.

The girls' basketball games scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday evening will still take place, as will Wednesday evening's wrestling practice.

Critchfield says the heating system at Mountain View Elementary in Burley is working after some minor repairs were made.
