DETROIT (AP) — Researchers at Wayne State University have received a $2.5 million grant to help study antibiotics for the treatment of multidrug-resistant diseases.
The funding announced Thursday by the Detroit school is from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health. The project is led by professor David Crich in the Department of Chemistry at Wayne State's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
The project will study antibiotics used to treat complex infectious diseases. The goal is to help design the next generation of compounds.
There are several collaborators on the research project, including the Kresge Hearing Institute at the University of Michigan.
