MARSHALL, Mich. (AP) — Two high school students are charged with making a false report or threat of terrorism after authorities say photos of them holding guns were posted online along with threats to students.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports the 16-year-old boys were arraigned Thursday following their arrests Wednesday. Investigators say they seized 34 guns when they searched the boys' homes after the threats were posted on Instagram.
The Marshall High School students also are charged with using the Internet to commit a crime.
Prosecutors say they want to try them as adults. They appeared via video from a juvenile facility accompanied by their parents. They're due in court April 14.
Classes were canceled Thursday in Marshall Public Schools as a precaution although officials said they weren't aware of any other threats.
