JEROME, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho charter school has requested an investigation into a state commission it says is biased.
The Times-News reported Saturday that administrators at Heritage Academy in Jerome have filed a request with the Idaho Attorney General to investigate the state Public Charter School Commission.
The school's attorney says the investigation is necessary to address what it believes is bias against certain charter schools.
Officials say the commission held a private executive session in April to examine charter renewals for several schools.
In June, the commission accidently released audio from the meeting.
The newspaper reports commissioners can be heard accusing Heritage's superintendent of being pleased with a drop in the school's academic achievement ranking that qualified it for additional federal funds.
The superintendent says the comments were "inaccurate and derogatory."
