Smith’s Chef Jeff Jackson joined KSL TV to show off how to make his steak and pasta stir-fry.
Ingredients
For the Steak:
- 1-2 lbs. steak 8 oz.
- 3 tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. Maggi or soy sauce
For the Sauce:
- 1/3 c. Maggi or soy sauce
- 1/3 c. oyster sauce
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. garlic, minced
- ½ tsp. pepper
For the Stir-Fry:
8 oz. dry medium pasta (penne, bowtie, etc.) canola oil as needed
- 1 ½ c. small broccoli florets
- ½ small onion, sliced
- 1 carrot, thinly sliced
- 1 c. snap or snow peas
- 1 tbsp. garlic, minced
- cilantro to garnish
Directions
- Slice the steak thinly into bite size pieces against the grain. Mix the cornstarch and Maggi in a bowl. Add it to the steak and toss to combine. Allow it to marinate for 30 minutes.
- Combine the ingredients for the sauce in a bowl. Mix thoroughly and set aside.
- Cook the pasta to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat a lg. skillet over high heat. Add enough oil to coat the pan, and once shimmering add the steak and toss around to cook and crisp evenly. Remove the steak from the pan. Add more oil and then all of the veggies. Toss around and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Add back in the cooked pasta, steak, and sauce mixture. Toss until everything comes together. Serve warm, garnished with chopped cilantro.
