Maybe Valentines Day should be about being the right valentine rather than finding the right valentine. Valentines Day is a great time to increase connection and closeness with your partner. It is about being the right kind of partner for your spouse. Be a partner who really cares, who dedicates time to your partner, and who understands your partner. Use the ideas below to bring greater connection with Valentine's Day.
Really Care and Show You Care
• Spend some time thinking about it now.
• Make an effort.
• Pay attention to what she looked at the last time you went shopping
• Make one of her dreams come true.
• Don't take the easy way out.
Do Something Different
• Divorces are the result of one partner becoming complacent.
• Work as hard as you used to in order to win her.
• If you normally go out to the same restaurants…mix it up. You could stay home and make a dinner.
• Ditch the kids and have an evening just to yourselves.
• Plan an overnighter.
Do What You Used To Do
• When you first fell in love you probably did a lot more than you do now. Get back to what you used to do.
• Revisit an old dating spot.
• Revisit a favorite activity you used to do together.
Love Your Partner Their Way
• Which of the love senses does your partner appreciate most? Is it gifts, touch, talk, time, or service?
• Think which one of those ways works best and serve them that way.
Don't Try to Give Her Your Present
• Most women I talk to roll their eyes when their hubby buys them lingerie. It's the male equivalent of her buying you a new vacuum.
• Don't give TV's or appliances.
• If you do a movie try a "Chick Flick" versus "Action Movie"
Just Talk and Connect More
• The goal should be to talk more.
• Women tend to bond through communication. Men bond through action. Get close to your wife by talking to her.
• Choose to talk about all that is good, past, present and future.
• Tell her 50 things you really love about your partner.
• Reaffirm why you married her or him.
Give Her Something She Could Talk to Her Friends About.
• Women talk to their friends about stuff like this.
• Women want to be in love with us…we just make it so hard.
• Make her proud.
• Remember that she is going to get you a present as well.
