Of Note: Has served under head coaches Rich Brooks, Darryl Rogers, Harvey Hyde, Keith Gilbertson, Al Luginbill and LaVell Edwards. He recruited five players who became All-pro in the NFL.

Playing Career: Transferred to the University of Utah in 1975, where he suffered a career-ending back injury was an All-American linebacker and defensive end at Santa Barbara CC (1973-74).

Education: Graduated Phi Kappa Phi at Arizona State (1988, M.A. in history); Oregon (1978, B.S. in history); Santa Barbara CC; San Marcos HS (Santa Barbara, Calif., 1973).

Hometown: Santa Barbara, Calif.

Family: Wife (former Karen Curtis, a member of the BYU Athletic Hall of Fame and current BYU women's volleyball head coach) and sons (Mackenzie, Tanner and Tucker).
