You know, there are certain TV commercials that grab your attention enough that you remember them later on. I can always clearly recall the one with the owner of Oreck Vacuums lifting a 16-pound bowling ball with the vacuum hose.
Greg Lawson has five Oreck locations along the Wasatch Front. He told me he started the business while attending school in Utah County. It was June 1997 and Greg needed something he could do part-time while he finished his education. Well, what he intended as a temporary, part-time job turned into a successful, growing business. Greg's stores are located in Orem, Midvale, West Jordan, Salt Lake City, and Layton.
The flagship product is the famous lightweight, eight-pound upright Oreck vacuum cleaner. However, the company's most recent innovation has been the introduction of the Oreck Heatwise Portable Zone Furnace. These wonderful, inexpensive-to-use units will take the chill out of any room on a cold winter's night.
Greg emphasized that the stores' primary focus is taking the time to individually help customers with their home care needs. Every customer gets one-on-one attention that you sometimes won't find elsewhere. Oreck products are designed to make homes cleaner and healthier, and customers also appreciate that every Oreck comes with a lowest price guarantee and 30-day satisfaction promise. This means that if for any reason the buyer doesn't love the product, they don't have to keep it. I like that the Oreck is manufactured right here in the United States in Cookeville, Tenn.
The future is bright for the company with its expanding product line. When Greg first started, Oreck only had one model of upright vacuum. Today, the stores are filled with commercial, canister and handheld vacuums as well as electric brooms, multi-purpose floor machines and carpet cleaners. Oreck also has steam mops, air purifiers and other supplies for all home care needs.
