News releaseCOLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Max Hall (BYU), Joe Dale (Utah) and James Aho (New Mexico) are Mountain West Conference Players of the Week for games through Nov. 21. Hall earns Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Dale garners the Defensive Player award and Aho receives Special Teams recognition. This marks the fifth player of the week honor for Hall this season (ninth career) and third career accolade for Aho, while Dale picks up his first.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MAX HALL, BYU
Senior, Quarterback, Mesa, Ariz./Arizona State
Senior quarterback Max Hall passed for a season-high 377 yards and season-best five touchdowns to lead No. 18 BYU to a 38-21 victory over Air Force. The Mesa, Ariz., native completed 33-of-45 attempts to help the Cougars score 38 points against a Falcon squad that was surrendering only 13.3 points per game this season and ranked as the nation's top-rated pass defense (127.9 ypg) entering the contest.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOE DALE, UTAH
Senior, Defensive Back, Irving, Texas/Nimitz HS
Senior defensive back Joe Dale registered five tackles (including one for loss), a pass breakup and a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown in No. 23 Utah's 38-7 win over San Diego State. Three of the Irving, Texas, native's five stops were solo efforts.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JAMES AHO, NEW MEXICO
Sophomore, Place Kicker, Roswell, N.M./Roswell HS
Sophomore James Aho kicked a 27-yard field goal with 12 seconds remaining as New Mexico snapped a 14-game losing streak with a 29-27 win over Colorado State. The Roswell, N.M. product also connected on field goal attempts from 21 and 37 yards. Two of Aho's three field goals came in the final 11 minutes of the contest, beginning with his 37-yarder at the 10:19 mark of the fourth quarter that pulled the Lobos to within one after Colorado State's interception return for a touchdown put the Rams on top 27-23.
